Manufacturing output in the Czech Republic dropped sharply in December, with a 12.5 percent decrease y-o-y surpassing even the expectations of economists who had predicted an 11 percent drop. The slump followed a far more moderate fall of 3.9 percent in November and a rise of production by 4.1 percent in October, according to data from the Czech Statistical Office.
For the entire year of 2012, industrial production slid 1.2 percent, while construction output fell 17.3 percent in December and 14.1 percent on a seasonally-adjusted basis. Annual output from the construction sector declined 6.5 percent in 2012.
