Passengers numbers rise at Bucharest airports in 2012

4 February 2013

Around 7.45 million passengers passed through Bucharest’s Henri Coanda and Baneasa airports in 2012, a 1.3-percent increase compared with the previous year, according to incomemagazine.ro. Henri Coanda airport, Romania’s primary international hub, currently has 32 airline carriers flying to 68 destinations, including newly added routes from TAP Portugal and Flydubai.

The airport said that 84 percent of its passengers in 2012 were flying to destinations within the European Union.

In March 2012, Blue Air, Wizzair and Germanwings started operating out of Henri Coanda after Baneasa closed down its commercial-flight options.
