LOT’s Dreamliner planes grounded by EASA

29 January 2013

The deal for brand-new Boeing Dreamliners could be the nail in the coffin for Polish airline operator LOT, according to aviation expert Tomasz Hypki. The European Aviation Safety Agency decided to ground the planes the company bought from Boeing in November. EASA said it was grounding the planes because of recent incidents involving their batteries and fuel leaks. According to Hypki, the repairs could take months.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reports the Polish operator will seek compensation from Boeing.
