Romania plans to issue 5,500 work permits to foreigners in 2013, said government spokesperson Andrei Zaharescu. The government will issue 3,000 permits to permanent employees, while 900 will go to “seconded” employees, or those who are temporarily assigned to work for another organization or a different part of the organization of their current employer.
The government will hand out an additional 800 permits to highly skilled workers and 100 to seasonal workers, while 200 will go to those on probation and another 100 will go to cross-border employees. Romanian authorities also said they will issue 100 nominal work permits and 300 permits to athletes.
