Euronews launching local Hungarian channel

14 December 2012

Euronews unveiled plans to open a newsroom in Budapest in April. It will be the channel’s 13th national edition, and according to Michael Peters, CEO of Euronews, this will be the second edition besides Greece, based in a local newsroom. The newsroom will add 37 jobs to the Hungarian market and 15 more people will be added to Euronews’ offices in Brussels and Lyon. The Budapest newsroom will be co-financed by Euronews and the European Commission. Euronews is already available in 20 percent of the Hungarian households. It’s the fourth biggest news channel in Hungary, with 7 percent of Hungarians watching Euronews at least once a week.
