Romanian MP ratio is above EU average

Romania now has 588 members Parliament, (394 deputies and 176 senators) and a population of about 21.4m, which pretty much comes out to one member of parliament (MP) for every 36,400 citizens. By comparison, the ratio in countries like France, Holland, Poland and Italy averages one MP for every 64,000 citizens.

In France, there is one MP for every 72,000 citizens, while in Poland the ratio is one MP for every 68,000 citizens. With a population of 15.6m, Holland has a smaller number of MPs – 75 senators and 150 deputies – so its ratio is one MP for every 74,600 citizens.
