There’s not enough room in Romania’s Parliament building for all the newly elected deputies, according to Parliament’s general secretary, Liviu Dragnea. He said that the building only has standard seating for 501 deputies, but that there are 550 incoming deputies who will need to sit somewhere.
That’s 80 more than were elected to the outgoing session of Parliament. Those who can’t find a seat will have to make do with the balconies, he suggested. The situation promises entertaining debates on seating charts to follow in the weeks to come.
