Poland’s Central Anti-corruption Bureau CBA is investigating the state-owned energy company PGE Energia Jądrowa. The investigation begun Thursday and is centered on a couple of large-scale public tenders arranged by the company over the last three years. “No one is suspected at this stage of the investigation,” CBA head Paweł Wojtunik said in an interview with the news channel TVN24. He refused to disclose any particular tenders being investigated.
Poland’s former minister of treasury, Aleksander Grad, currently heads two PGE subsidiaries, PGE Energia Jądrowa and PGE EJ1. Both are involved in the company’s nuclear program and the development of the first nuclear power plant in Poland.
