7 December 2012

The European Investment Bank is granting Hungary a €560m loan, €400m of which will go toward development projects and €160m will go toward scientific research.
“Under the present circumstances, Hungary is in great need of investment contributing to economic development and fostering economic growth,” said EIB Vice President Wilhelm Molterer. “Great emphasis has to be given to the improved competitiveness of the economy, better functioning of the labor market and stronger innovation capacity of the production sector.”
The bulk of the funding will finance priority projects included in the Hungarian National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013 plan, with a special focus on education and health care. The rest of the funding will support investments linked to the research activities of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences over the next two years.
