It took just 16 days for a freight train loaded with containers full of computers to reach Pardubice from Wuchan, China. The delivery was an experiment, but could be the first step in re-establishing the so-called “silk trail”, connecting China to Europe.
China Railway Intermodal Transport dispatched the train from Wuchan, which then traveled through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belorussia and Poland before arriving in the Czech Republic. Swiss InterRailHolding oversaw the journey. The website e15 quotes Hains Reinhard, president of InterRail Holding, saying that the record delivery time was an international effort that applied innovative logistics and modern IT systems. The majority of goods shipped from China to Europe these days usually takes 30 days to reach its destination.
