Flow East project on Wenceslas Square clears planning hurdle

30 October 2012

The developer Flow East appears to have won a prolonged battle against Prague’s conservationists after the Ministry of Culture refused to list its building at Wenceslas 47 as a cultural monument. The decision gives the green light for the building to be torn down, and replaced with the developer’s mixed-use, steel and glass Květinový dům project.
“Flow East gladly welcomes the decision today made by the Ministry of Culture which recognizes the rule of law over any appeasement to vocal lobby groups who are opposed to change,” said James Woolf, Flow East’s chairman. Stressing his company’s 20-year track record in downtown Prague, Woolf said “we believe our architectural plans for the new Květinový dům is the right one for the city.”
“The new building will greatly enhance the future rejuvenation of Wenceslas Square and meet the demands of modern day life: an iconic architectural design combining old with new, much needed available Class A office space for Prague 1 and retail with a difference.” Flow East plans to invest CZK 1.2bn in the project.
