The Japanese tire manufacturer Bridgestone, is expanding its Tatbánya factory in northern Hungary. The €267m investment will add 505 new jobs to the local market and if expectations are met, it will triple the factory’s capacity, increasing the daily production by 12,000 tires. Completion of the new facility, which is located less than an hour west of Budapest, is set for 2017. The Hungarian government has welcomed the expansion, noting that Bridgestone, Audi and Mercedes have made Hungary a leader on the European automotive market.
