Newsweek ending print run

19 October 2012

Newsweek is the latest to publication to fold under growing online competition. After a 79-year run, the magazine announced it was ending its print eddition and making its stories available exclusively online. Newsweek will put out its last magazine on Dec. 31. Starting at the beginning of January, the company said it plans to set up its digital presence.
“Newsweek Global, as the all-digital publication will be named, will be a single, worldwide edition targeted for a highly mobile, opinion-leading audience who want to learn about world events in a sophisticated context,” Newsweek wrote on its website. The decision of the US editors will not affect the Polish version of the magazine Newsweek Polska, Polish spokeswoman Anna Gancarz-Luboń said.
