The Mövenpick hotel in Prague’s Smíchov district has changed operators and is now called NH Prague. The Spanish company NH Hoteles will operate the 439-room hotel for its owner MP Development. The operator change was set to take place at the end of the year, but was moved up because the Davis Cup finals will take place in Prague O2 Arena next month and NH Hoteles, which sponsors the event, wanted to take advantage of the marketing opportunity. The International Tennis Federation has booked 150 rooms in the hotel.
The Swiss-run Mövenpick operated the hotel for 16 years, achieving an occupancy rate of 70 to 80 percent. Hospodářské noviny quote Frederic Le Fichoux, the head of the hotel team at Cushman & Wakefield, saying that Mövenpick is a more high-end brand and the location in Smíchov requires competitive pricing. NH Hoteles has lower operation costs and should be able to achieve better results.
