Romania’s new demand for industrial and logistics spaces reaches 213,500 sqm in Q1 2024

In the first half of this year, companies rented industrial and logistics spaces with a total area of 410,500 sqm, a volume down by 25 percent compared to the same period last year. The new demand, excluding renegotiation contracts, accumulated 52 percent of the volume of contracted spaces, respectively 213,500 sqm, according to the data of the real estate consulting company Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.

By area, Bucharest attracted most of the demand in the first semester, with 46 percent of the total (187,300 sqm), followed by Arad with 15 percent (62,700 sqm) and the second largest industrial hub in country, Timisoara, with 14 percent of the total (58,600 sqm). Ploiesti, Oradea and Sibiu were also among the cities preferred by companies.

The largest transactions initialed in the second quarter are represented by two pre-leases, one of 20,900 sqm by VAT Group in VGP Park Arad and the other of 20,000 sqm by Deichmann in ELI Park 3 Bucharest.
