Construction of R35 highway to start in 2014

3 October 2012

The transport ministry will earmark CZK 100m to buy land for the R35 highway, which will connect the towns of Liberec and Olomouc in northeast Bohemia. The project has been delayed for 10 years, but could start by 2014. The government hopes to tap EU funds to finance the project, as the R35 is a priority for the EU’s 2014-15 operation programs. Two sections of the motorway are currently underway: Opatovice-Časy and Časy-Ostrov. The transport ministry said that any appeals that could block land assembly will be rejected, opening the way for the buy-out.
