The union representing Bucharest Autonomous Transport Company (RATB) employees said it would strike if the Bucharest General Council lays off 4,500 workers as proposed.
Meanwhile, the union representing workers at the Metrorex subway company also said it would hold a one-day strike in support of RATB employees if there were layoffs.
Metrorex employees are also unhappy that Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced plans to put the subway company under City Hall authority.
