Activity in Poland’s manufacturing sector dropped in August to its lowest level since 2009, hitting 48.3 points, down from 49.7 points seen just a month before. “The result from July was just a temporary hike. The one from August confirmed the industry is currently stagnant,” says Ignacy Morawski from the bank PBP.
In August, the PMI index stayed below the 50 point level (considered a safety border between growth and decline) for the third straight month. The outlook for the coming month is also cloudy, analysts warn, with some predicting annual growth to be negative in 2012.
