The number of completed homes fell 1,740 units in H1 2012 to 16,066, because of the low number of houses and apartments financed with private funds, according to the National Statistics Institute.
Decreases were recorded in the Northeast region (down 510 homes), the Central region (down 485 homes), the Northwest region (down 365 homes), and the Bucharest – Ilfov region (down 306 homes).
The Southeast and South Muntenia regions also so falls of 147 and 8, respectively. A slight increase was recorded in the Southwest, with 61 more homes completed in the first six months of the year, while in the Western region, the number rose by 20 homes.
In the second quarter of 2012, 9,204 homes were completed, a fall of 977 homes compared with the first quarter of 2011.
Most homes (53.8 percent) were built in rural areas, while 46.2 percent were completed in urban areas.
