Prague airport numbers down 10.6% in July

31 August 2012

The number of passengers coming through Prague’s international airport in Ruzyne fell 10.6 percent in July 2012, compared to July 2011. The disturbing numbers are being blamed on a reduction in the activity of its main airline operator, CSA, which has slashed its list of destinations. This has had a knock-on effect on transfers, with 52 percent fewer of them over the first seven months of the year.
Overall, the number of passengers at Prague’s airport fell 9 percent through the end of July, or 600,000 fewer passengers. Over the same period, Europe recorded growth in airline activity to the tune of 4.8 percent. Lufthansa and British Airways have seen their passenger numbers growing.
