The price of natural gas delivered will increase 5% for Romanians beginning in September, says according to IMF mission chief, Erik der Vrijer. He also said that companies will pay 10% more, even though the calendar of price increases announced by Romania’s Regulatory Authority for Energy in late June did not include any tariff changes this year.
The gas price for the population was to increase by 10 percent in 2013 and 2014, while in 2015-2018 it would grow by 12 percent, as the energy market liberalization for industrial customers beginning in September 2012 comes into effect.
Der Vrijer says the gas price increase for this year represents a correction of the lack of adjustment of prices in the past.
