Energy saving subsidies to be broadened through savings

13 August 2012

The Czech Ministry of Environment is looking to reduce the amount it spends on the energy saving subsidies it hands out. In the past, writes idnes.cz, it simply handed out money for projects in which people planned to use, for example to install new insulation. This meant those who were granted the subsidies saved on the insulation, and on the lower energy costs as well. Now, the state will seek to get back almost 90 percent of the money saved on lower energy costs. Deputy minister Jakub Kulisek says the idea is to use the more efficient subsidies system to increase the number of requests it can approve so that the impact on the environment is greater.
