Led by Franz Fuchs, the insurer Compensa could have to pay as much as PLN 5.3m in penalties after the Polish Antimonopoly Office found 11 clauses in the company’s agreements it deemed to be illegal. Under question, among other issues, is Compensa’s policy of refusing to pay compensation for stolen vehicles in cases where the customer is unable to provide the original keys. Compensa has been also obliging its customers to use only roadside assistance of their car’s manufacturer and was moreover paying out the compensation with no tax. Polish authorities believe the company was knowingly misleading its customers while signing the agreements. The verdict, however, is not yet final.
