The Cina restaurant building, built in 1907 and classified as historical monument, could be partially demolished and reconstructed, with four new floor being added to the existing structure.

The planners, Design Asix architecture office, recently presented three versions of the project to Bucharest’s City Hall Planning Commission, but have not yet received a favorable decision. In all three versions, the new building will have offices, catering and retail function.

Sorin Gabrea, president of the planning commission, asked for another version of the project to be elaborated, one with two new buildings, one near the Athenaeum and a second, higher one on Revolution Square. The investor behind this project is Bucharest Tourism SA company.

The Cina restaurant is located in Victoria Boulevard, near buildings of national importance. According with the protected area regulations, the maximum allowed height is 22 meters.
