Poland’s oil giant Orlen reported a loss of PLN 5.24m for the second quarter of 2012. The company failed to meet market expectations, which predicted Orlen would make a PLN 5.67m profit in Q2 2012. Orlen’s operating profit fell from PLN 1.01m to PLN 375.4m over the second quarter of the year. Analysts had predicted it would reach PLN 0.4bn. Revenue, however, increased over the period from PLN 25.64bn to PLN 27.95bn.
