After signing an agreement for a 49-percent stake in JSC Karpovskiy Severniy, the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL wants to start drilling for hydrocarbons in Kazakhstan. JSC currently holds the exploration licence in Kazakhstan. The deal was signed with the Kazmunaigas Exploration and Production (KMG EP) company, a subsidiary of the Kazakh oil company, JSC Kazmunaigas. The licence area is 1,670 sqm and it is at the northern edge of the Caspian Depression. According to the latest report published by KMG EP, the resources could reach 240 MMboe.
