An opening ceremony was held on Sunday for Poland’s new airport in Modlin, an investment said to be worth PLN 380m. Many of the Central and Eastern European low-cost airlines will now be operating their base out of the new Warsaw-Modlin airport, including popular Wizz Air and well-known Ryanair.
“It’s an important day for us, many of of the observers were sceptical about the investment, there were many obstacles to the project, but we have managed to complete it, now the investment is expected to stimulate the growth of the Mazovian region,” said Adam Struzik, the Marshal of the Mazovian Voivodeship during the ceremony.
The new airport is planned to support the main Warsaw’s Frederic Chopin airport, as the flight market is now growing in Poland, claims head of Okęcie Airport Michał Marzec. The new investment will create 1,000 jobs.
