Bucharest residents will be using the the Raul Doamnei – Eroilor corridor on the metro system by 2015. The Underground Transport Administration Metrorex signed last year contracts with construction companies Astaldi (Italy), FCC Construccion (Spain), Delta ACM 93 (Romania) and AB Construct (Romania), on work amounting to €215m excluding VAT – a cost of about €34.6m per kilometer.
The new section will serve 300,000 people, will have a length of over six kilometers and will include ten stations (Raul Doamnei, Valea Argesului, Valea Ialomitei, Romancierilor, Parcul Drumul Tabereri, Tudor Vladimirescu, Favorit, Orizont, Academia Militara, Eroilor). The investment for Raul Doamnei – Eroilor section is covered 50 percent by the state budget and the rest of the money from the European Investment Bank.
