Four officials working in the Northwest Regional Operational Program (ROP) office distributing EU subsidies were detained by Czech police, including the former head Petr Kušnierz. The investigation focuses on four projects, according to the police spokesperson. ROP section head Irena Kotlánová, who testified in the Kušnierz case in March, when corruption charges were brought against him for the first time, was among those detained. The four detained had allegedly cashed in a total of CZK 2.8m, as they demanded 10 percent bribes for the settlement of applications for EU subsidies. A verdict is due July 12.
