Deputies for TOP 09, an opposition party in Prague 7’s city council, have condemned the latest round of a tender to choose a new headquarters for the city district. Prague 7 has been trying to choose a building for years, but each time a tender is held, the results are rejected, or the tender is cancelled. In the latest installment of the saga, the Mercurie building was suddenly looking like the favorite, having been offered for CZK 390m. TOP 09 claims the bid is highly suspicious, because in the last tender, the same building was offered for CZK 845m. Moreover, the party complains that it knows nothing about the company offering the building, Baram Invest, and is unclear why it’s offering a building that’s supposedly owned by REWO Holding through the SPV Argentinská 38. The head of the TOP 09 deputy club for Prague 7 Richard Lehman is demanding the tender be cancelled again and a new round to be launched under more transparent conditions.
