BBI Development secures prime plot in Warsaw

20 June 2012

A ten-storey office and retail building is to be developed in central Warsaw on the spot where the first Polish McDonald’s restaurant was built, on the corner of Marszałkowska and Świętokszyska Streets. It’s a scheme by the Warsaw-based company BBI Development, which has just secured the final zoning decision for the project. The owner of the plot, the state-owned company Społem Warszawska Spółdzielnia Spożywców Śródmieście, agreed to sell it instead of retaining a 35 percent share in the investment. “There are lot of banks that are interested in financing the investment,” says Michał Skotnicki, BBI Development chairman. The volume of the investment has been agreed, but is being kept confidential. Construction work on the project is scheduled to begin the third quarter of 2013.
