The Norwegian government has removed labor restrictions for Romanians, according to a Foreign Ministry press release. The total liberalization of the Norwegian labor market for Romanian citizens is a sign of the growing economic ties between the two countries and will be warmly accepted by Romanian nationals living there, said the Foreign Ministry.
Norway implemented national measures regarding access of Romanian citiziens on the local labor market and required a 7-year transition, after the agreement on Romania and Bulgaria’s participation in the European Economic Area from July 27, 2007.
Over the weekend, Norway decided to lift the restrictions earlier than planned in 2014, to give e free movement of labor, and to be in compliance with the values and rights underpinning the European Union.
