The number of used cars registered last month in Romania tripled against the same month in 2011, while new car sales dropped nearly 10 percent. Police data revealed that more than 86,000 automobiles were registered during the first five months of 2012, which represents a 37 percent increase year-on-year. In May alone, 7,765 new cars were registered in Romania.
This was a 9 percent decrease from May 2011, though over the first 5 months of the year, sales were up compared to the same period in 2011 from 23,000 units to 26,017. Of these, more than 6,200 or the cars were of the Dacia make, while the number of Volkswagens registered exceeded 3,000.
