Hitachi back on the Czech market

30 May 2012

Hitachi is renewing production in the Czech Republic, in the Triangle industrial zone in Žatec from which it pulled out in 2009. At the time, it had been producing LCD monitors for two years, but it was forced to fire 800 workers. The new strategy envisions production of car mufflers in the factory as of March 2013. Hitachi plans to employ 300 people, a third of the originally planned number. The 25 ha facility offers enough potential for future expansion of the production. Triangle industrial zone has been attracting car parts producers lately, but has never reached the originally foreseen 13,000 jobs.
