The Senate passed a legal initiative about firing the state employees of public institutions, authorities and other state structures that refuse to speak Romanian language, insult others, destroy or remove an emblem, a flag or another symbol of the Romanian state.
The legislative proposal was initiated by independent deputy Daniel Oajdea and stipulates that public institutions may hire new employees only by contest or examination, and only if the successful candidates can speak and write Romanian.
The Ministry of Education must elaborate a guidebook of Romanian language that will serve to evaluating state employees.
The initiator also shows that the law does not affect minorities in Romania, does not affect or restrict their legitimate rights.
