Magyar Cukor (Hungarian Sugar Co) is undertaking a new investment in Kaposvár, worth more than one billion forint. A new fermenter will be built, through which the biogas production of the Kaposvár plant will be increased. The equipment will operate with the beginning of the 120 day autumn sugar campaign, when 9 million cubic meters of biogas will be produced in the new tank. This is enough to supply a city with a population of 20,000 people. Half of the cost of the project will be paid by the European Union, on the basis of a tender as the company has won a tender in the scope of the Environment and Energy Operational Programme.
