Iryna Ivaschenko, president of IMF’s Hungarian delegation, announced that Thanos Arvanitis has been appointed as Chief of IMF’s Hungarian mission, replacing Christoph Rosenberg. Thanos Arvanitis led the Ukrainian mission from 2010 until March, 2012. His Hungarian appointment took effect from 30, April. Hungary appears to have made a breakthrough in discussions with the IMF over a new bailout deal, seen as necessary to avoid excessive pressure on its budget funding efforts.
