Five urban infrastructure and cultural projects, worth over €600m, changed the face of capital in 2011 and 2012, according to businessmagazin.ro.
Two major projects last year were the National Arena stadium and the Basarab overpass, which had a total value of over €400m. 2012 is the year of completion for the Pipera Passage, the National Library and the University parking.
The National Library, the €100m cultural mall housing an archive of 12 million books, recently opened to the public, making it the first major opening in the capital this year. Next was the Pipera passage which, although not as impressive and expensive as Basarab overpass will aid greatly in uncloggin traffic flows around the subway station Aurel Vlaicu.
Last on the list for opening this year is underground parking lot at the University area, in heart of the capital, whose construction is underway.
