Lidl to open in Oradea

10 May 2012

Discount retailer Lidl will open this week a new store in Oradea. Following the opening, the retailer will have 137 supermarkets in Romania.

The discounter had previously announced plans to reach 200 stores by the end of the year, following an expected investment of €70m. Lidl opened 107 stores last June after rebranding the local Plus Discount supermarkets as Lidl stores.
Over the course of 2011, it also managed to build 22 new Lidl stores.

Lidl is part of the German Lidl & Schwartz Group, which already runs Kaufland stores in Romania.
