Administration in Poland shrank in 2011

Employment fell in Poland’s public administration last year, Rzeczpospolita daily reports, with almost 10,300 jobs being cut over 2011. The latest data provided by the Polish Central Statistic Office (GUS) shows the number of the administration employees fell from 430,000 in 2010 to 10,300 last year. The paper says local governments laid off 8,600 people over the period. Poland’s government is finding it tougher to achieve those kinds of numbers, managing just a 0.93 percent reduction last year. In all, employment fell a total of 1.5 percent last year in entire public sector, GUS reports.
