24 April 2012

The Romanian government has approved the modernization plan for the fiscal administration (ANAF).
This modernization aims to improve tax collection and to reduce tax evasion.
The government is currently negotiating with the World Bank for a loan of approximately €75m to support this program.
The program seeks to improve tax collection to the state budget.
Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu talked with Serban Pop, the new head of ANAF, to urge the increase of the tax collection rate to the state budget from 33 percent (now) to at least 40 percent.
