Cyfrowy Polsat might cancel dividends to pay off debts

19 April 2012

The management board of Cyfrowy Polsat media group still has to take a formal decision on whether to pay out dividends to shareholders from 2011 profits, but its chairman is recommending the payments be withheld this year. The company produced PLN 156m in profits last year, money that chairman Dominik Libinicki believes should be added to the company’s base capital, and in part, to cover losses made in the past during the acquisition of other companies. Libnicki was referring in particular to debts it incurred in the purchase of Polsat TV.
