The Puskás Ferenc Stadium will remain as an athletic monument, but the Hungarian government has said the latest plans for the structure call for its renovation and reconstruction. A model of the project is to be shown in September-October, while formal plans would be presented in 2014. Reconstruction work, if all goes well, are expected to finish in 2016. The government also announced plans to build a brand new football stadium between the Puskás Ferenc Stadium and the Papp László National Sports arena.
