Ruling coalition loses majority in Romanian Senate

13 April 2012

Senators Iosif Secasan (PDL) and Cezar Magureanu (UNPR) announced their resignations from the Romanian Senate, with first moving to the National Liberal Party and the other saying that he will remain independent.
Until now, the ruling coalition had 68 senators, the minimum number of seats needed to assure a majority.
Two senators remain unaligned to any parliamentary group: Mircea Geoana, expelled from PSD, and Caesar Magureanu, who announced his resignation from UNPR and said he would act as independent.
