Parliament deputy loses seat

5 April 2012

In the first-ever case of its type, a Parliamentary deputy has lost his seat following a decision by the country’s Supreme Court.
Sergiu Andon lost his position of deputy because as a practicing lawyer, he defended a client who had been accused of corruption.
The High Court ruling came after the National Integrity Agency declared Andon’s actions inadmissible. The decision is final.
