Works on a shale gas extraction facility have kicked in the Polish city of Tomaszów Lubelski, in the southeast of the country. Poland’s oil and gas giant PGNiG expects to drill to a depth of 4,300 metres, where the latest Polish Geological Institute (PIG) report predicts gas deposit should be found. The cost of the venture is estimated at USD 25m and is expected to provide more information about the shale gas supplies in the region.
