Poland’s Defence Minister visits Uzbekistan

19 March 2012

Poland’s Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has left for Uzbekistan on official visit to look for transit routes that could be used to withdraw Polish contingents from Afganistan. They’re expected to be removed by 2014. “The Polish Army can withdraw its troops from Afghanistan,” he said. “But the transport of military equipment home from Afghanistan is a different matter. We have to seek good partners for a withdrawal operation.” A route through the city of Termez is being considered”, he added.
