Romanian nuclear plant search for investors delayed

16 March 2012

Romania’s biggest energy project, the construction of reactors 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant in western Romania, has failed yet to attract investors.
The Ministry of Economy has once again had to delay the project for another six months as the deadline to submit bids tender to choose an investor for the project has been postponed until September 15, 2012.
The current deadline, which was March 15, also was the day by which the Ministry had hoped to find new investors for the project, after four of the original six investors pulled out of the project.
Two of the original investors, Enel and ArcelorMittal, remain committed to the project.
