There’s a €2bn pipeline of 13 shopping malls planned by developers due for completion by 2016, according to Ilias Papageorgiadis of the company More Real Estate.
In total, around 1 million sqm of new retail space would be created in the next five years. Papageorgiadis argues that Bucharest can only absorb another two or three retail schemes and that their locations must be chosen with great care.
