Court forces city to lift construction ban

14 March 2012

The municipality of Letňany-Kbely in northern Prague has removed a construction ban imposed 12 years ago, opening the way for development. The highest Czech administrative court ruled that it was against the law, as changes to master plan had not been submitted when the ban was introduced, and it ruled that the ban has lasted too long. A landowner initiated the court proceedings, according to what the court’s spokesperson Sylva Dostálová told ČTK. The city hasn’t taken any action over the past 12 areas to clarify its goals for the huge area, which includes parts of Prosek, Čakovice and Kbely.
